Merino wool is the finest, purest wool in the world and perfect for our babies. It is incredibly warm in winter, cool in the summer and breathes with the skin. It absorbs excess moisture and odours without feeling clammy and keeps our precious babies’ skin dry and rash free.
Merino wool is a natural, renewable and unique product that is grown in the high country of the South Island of New Zealand, an environment that is perfect for producing New Zealand Merino wool of world-renowned quality. New Zealand farming systems have evolved over many years to protect the welfare of the Merino, preserve the environment for future generations and produce the highest quality natural fibre.
Merino wool benefits from the following attributes;
- 100% natural fibre
- Elasticity and softness – our fine micron count ensures absolute comfort
- Breathable - absorbs moisture without feeling damp
- Thermal control – warm in winter and cool in summer
- Resists build up of odours
- Can be placed next to baby’s skin without any ‘prickle’ effect
- Our organic yarn is certified Bio-Gro and is free from any harmful chemicals or dyes
- Fire resistant
- Comfortable to wear
Care of Merino GarmentsPlease note:
Our hand-knitted merino garments should never be washed with everyday laundry detergent – Only wool wash formulations should be used.
To care for our beautiful garments we recommend the following:
Handwash in warm water with an approved wool detergent
Do not wring or rub the garment
Do not soak
Dry flat in shade
To remove excess water, roll up into a towel and pat dry
Do not tumble dry.
If these care instructions are followed, your lovingly handknitted merino garment should last a lifetime to be treasured and passed on to other babies. Merino does not need washing as much as other fibres; to decrease your laundry workload we recommend regular airing of the garments.
